This picture was taken during the first day of MUST Intramural which was the parade. I am one who organized the flow of the parade form the Student Center going to Lim Ketkai Atrium. It was such an honor for me that time because I was very surprise; As one of the awards committee I am chosen to handle the parade which is not incline with my duty but as a "volunteer" I have to accept it. Even if its happen, I enjoyed so much because also with the help of my companions (Jerico & Dante).

MUST Intramurals 2012

It was another exiting activity that the university implemented for the students and also for the faculty members of the school. It was then possible because of the student leaders. Each university organization including the extention campuses was united once again for the success of this activity.
This activity is for the development of all the university members in terms of sports and extra-curricular activities. It is one way of becoming more competitive in other dimension of the school that involves intellectual and physical aspects of life.

I am actively participating this event once again eventhough I am not an officer or a student learder anymore because I want to be part of this kind of happenings in this university. I become one of the Supreme Student Council's (SSC) staff as a member of the awards committee and also a staff of the Student Council of Policy Studies, Education and Management (SCPSEM) which is my college.

As one of the awards committee we are task to make sash for the pageant and order boquet of flowers and trophes. Yes!, we are the one who made the sash; from the buying of ribbons to sewing the laces until the filling of the glitters.

On the other hand, we the College of Policy Studies, Education and Management (CPSEM) started the intramural with a unity prayer as our yearly practise every university intramural.

I was also one of the staff who hanlded the parade during the first day of the intramural.
It was then a very successful event which I was proud of because aside from being one of the active organizer, I was also very greatful, honored, and thankful that my college declared as the "1st over-all champion" and the "over-all champion in sports division".

To be an Ideal Student is…

Being responsible most especially in studies but it can’t be achieved without willingness. That willingness is the willingness to learn and to be molded or motivated.

To be an ideal student is also a choice; I mean it is meant to be a volunteerism because you can’t be an ideal student if you yourself are not interested or not willing to become one of those ideal students.

In achieving to become an ideal student is not just easy. You have to know more or deeply about yourself because knowing once self is also a way of knowing your interests, your limitations, and on how to love yourself as well. It is the first step to become an ideal student. It also includes the respects ----- in yourself, in your classmates or friends, and most of all the respect of your teachers because they are also part along the way of achieving to be an ideal student. Later on, you will slowly or progressively achieve in becoming an ideal student.

The key words to guide you to be an ideal student are “Responsible and Volunteerism”. Just reflect about it if you have that in yourself or not.

My Ideal

A teacher who are very dedicated to her/his job is my ideal teacher. That kind of teacher for me was approachable and willing to reached the hands of the students beyond the four corners of the classroom. I mean he/she is willing to do everything for the students learning or education. But then of course, an ideal teacher for me should know its limitations in terms in teaching and considering the students point of view in some aspects of education. She/He must be sensitive enough about the students backgrounds, problems in family and studies, and about the students needs in education.

"Nobody is perfect"; That was common to us which is also true because sometimes teachers has their  negative aspects and sometimes they has their advantages to the students.
As we all know that teaching is a noble job but it was not easy. Entering the teaching world is also entering to a new world that you will learn to cope up and adjust everything that is new to you especially later on you will find the new you!!!
Nevertheless, having an ideal teacher in my life was accepting him/her as part of my life because of course I have learn a lot from him/her that makes me respect and honor him/her the most. That's the time that I can say.......

So, all in all I conclude that ...
"My ideal teacher is the teacher that I love!"

Impact of Technology in Education

Technology in Education???

Base on definition, Technology is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a preexisting solution to a problem, achieve a goal or perform a specific function.

First of all, the technology exist because of education. Learning or using technology is depending on educational process base on its usage, functions, and purposes. Of course, we can never have technology without studying or learning its content.
As we all know technology has advantages and disadvantages in education. Whatever the technology will affects us whether its advantages or disadvantages it will also become the impact in us especially in our education.
Talking back about the definition of technology written above was obviously explains not only its definition but also its impact in education. Why?...We will begin explaining every definition of technology that will also become the impact of education:

1. Technology is the making of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization.
_In this definition, we are really educated in the making or the creation of technology because we know that each of us really incline in doing new things that will give us contentment in our desire, wants, and needs.

2. Technology is the modification of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization.
_By modifying the technology, we are open to the improvements and developments of the technology that we made for us to be updated in every trends of technology.

3. Technology is the usage and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization.
_Of course, by making or inventing and modifying technology we are now knowledgeable, ready to use and feel free of adopting the technology as part of our life basically in our education.

 4. Technology is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a preexisting solution to a problem, achieve a goal or perform a specific function.
_It is the major definition of technology that give more impact in our education as well as in our daily life activities because as it was stated that it can solve a problem, improve something, and achieve something that can affects our humanity.

Those impacts for me is very true knowing that technology is very influential to us nowadays. But we have to limit our desire in using technology to avoid negative effects in our self and in our education.

My Education Overview

My Education Overview

Basically, education is one of the most important things that a man could ever have. It is a man's treasure! Some of us conclude that: " if a man finished his studies will have a successful future." but how can this be attain nowadays if in some schools implemented some new curriculum without considering the students ability to learn? Are those implementers or those on higher positions in education already knows the ability of majority students in terms of learning considering the students' basic needs or requirements like the budget of tuition fees and the students' knowledge about their fields(courses)? Come to think of it?...
As I observed, only few of the graduates has already the job because of the attitudes in having the guts to find job and maybe also because the government didn't  offer them the job that are compatible to their related fields. Yes! the government offers some jobs and new curriculum in education like - the K+12 Basic Education - but only few of the applicants and students can have those. Why they can't produce a job for all applicants especially to the graduates which is one of their responsibilities in the country; their so called full economic employment? They should start and focusing in the education development especially in the public schools. That's reality.

On the other hand, In my opinion about the K+12 Basic Education is that it has advantages and disadvantages to all of us. As we all know it focuses to those students who are in primary level, high schools or in secondary level, and also to the graduates of Bachelor in Secondary Education (BSED) major in TLE, Bachelor of Science in General Education (BS Gen. Ed.), Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BS E.E), and in some Engineering Courses. Among all courses that every schools has offering only those courses that I stated has the chance to get the job on the K+12 curriculum and we already have an idea that not all graduates to those courses that I mentioned can have that job.
Here we are again, talking about those students who will surely can experience the K+12 Basic Education. Yes, they can easily finish their studies after 6years or more and as the government says that they can lean a job right after taking the K+12 Basic Education; but there's a big questions to that! Was the government assures that the number of the graduates of this K+12 Basic Education will be accommodated the job their offering and was the knowledge that the K+12 Basic Education offers will be enough and fit to the job? Considering it because it is new to us, for now I will just observe its process and output if it is effective or not.

To end this topic, I will take this opportunity to thank those people who will read this and who visited my blog. Always remember that its up to us on how we treasure and apply our knowledge or education to our daily life routine if we really want to have a successful future because in the end its only our self can dictate what we can have in our life. Just don't forget to trust and thank our Almighty God always!!!

Displaying Materials:Using Flipcharts,Chalkboard/Flannel board in Presenting Lessons

Displaying/Instructional materials - are kind of tools or equipments can help effectively the instructor in theory teaching classroom or in practical assessment.

Kinds of Displaying Materials:

1.Flip chart-is a
stationery item resembling a whiteboard, typically supported on a tripod or four-legged easel. A pad of paper sheets is typically fixed to the upper edge. Such charts are commonly used for presentations. The flip chart is thought to have been invented by Peter Kent who built one to help him in a presentation.

Although most commonly supported on a tripod, flip charts come in various forms. Some of these are:

·                     stand-alone flip chart:resembles a big isosceles triangle box that usually sits on a table. Imagine a book that you would open at 270° angle and then lay on a table. The paper is flipped from one side of the top of the triangle box to the other.
·                     metallic tripod (or easel) stand: usually has 3 or 4 metallic legs that are linked together at one extremity. A support board is attached to two of these legs to support the large paper pad. This is the most common type of flip chart stand.
·                     metallic mount on wheels: usually has a flat base to support the paper pad and is mounted on one or two legs that then have a set of wheels. The advantage of these more recent forms of stands is that it is easier to transport the flip chart from one location to another.
Flip charts are used in many different settings such as:
·                     in any type of presentation where the papers pads are pre-filled with information on a given topic
·                     for capturing information in meetings and brainstorming sessions
·                     in classrooms and teaching institutions of any kind
·                     to record relevant information in manufacturing plants
·                     a creative drawing board for Art students
·                     a palette for artists in “life-drawing” classes
·                     for strategy coaching for sports teams
·                     for teaching
There are several advantages of using a flip chart. Here are just a few:

1.Flip charts do not need electricity - You don't need to worry if the bulb will burn out or worry that you forgot the extension chord.
      2.Flip charts are economical
 - They do not require you to use any special films or printers to produce them.                                                                                                                                                                   3.Color can be added very easily - An inexpensive box of flip chart markers allows you all the creativity you want.
      4.Flip charts allow spontaneity
 - Any last minute changes can be easily made.

2.Blackboard or Chalkboard- is a reusable writing surface on which text or drawings are made with sticks of calcium sulfate or calcium carbonate, known, when used for this purpose, as chalk. Chalkboards were originally made of smooth, thin sheets of black or dark gray slate stone. Modern versions are often green or brown and are thus sometimes called a green board or brown board instead because the colour is considered easier on the eyes.

History & Etymology

The term "blackboard" dates from around 1815 to 1825[2]
while the newer and predominantly American term, "chalkboard" dates from 1935 to 1940.[3]
The chalkboard was introduced into the US education system in 1801.[4][5]

Design

A chalkboard can simply be a piece of board painted with
matte dark paint (usually black or dark green). A more modern variation consists of a coiled sheet of plastic drawn across two parallel rollers, which can be scrolled to create additional writing space while saving what has been written. The highest grade chalkboards are made of a rougher version porcelain enamelled steel (black, green, blue or sometimes other colours). Porcelain is very hard wearing and chalkboards made of porcelain usually last 10–20 years in intensive use.

Uses

Chalkboards are often used in
teaching, although in wealthier countries their use has diminished.Chalkboards are also used in many establishments (typically public houses) as a form of advertising often for upcoming events and menus and to record the score in dartsmatches. Also in homes, specifically in the kitchen, for writing messages, shopping lists and things to remember, as well as sometimes serving a decorative purpose.

Advantages & Disadvantages

As compared to
whiteboards, chalkboards have a variety of advantages:
·                     Chalk requires no special care; whiteboard markers must be capped or else they dry out.
·                     Chalk is an order of magnitude cheaper than whiteboard markers for a comparable amount of writing.
·                     It is easier to draw lines of different weights and thicknesses with chalk than with whiteboard markers.
·                     Chalk has a mild smell, whereas whiteboard markers often have a pungent and odor.
On the other hand, chalk produces dust, the amount depending on the quality of chalk used. Some people find this uncomfortable or may be allergic to it, and according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), there are links between chalk dust and allergy and asthma problems.[1] The dust also precludes the use of chalk in areas shared with dust-sensitive equipment such as computers.
The
scratching of fingernails on a chalkboard, as well as other pointed, especially metal objects against chalkboards, produces a sound that is well-known for being extremely irritating to most people. Many are averse also to merely the sight or thought of this sort of contact.

3.
Flannel board- is a board that is usually covered in either felt or flannel and propped up on an easel. It is usually used in preschool classes as a storytelling device.
flan·nel·board

noun
a flannel-covered surface to which other flannel  pieces, as letters of the alphabet, numbers, etc., adhere merely by contact, used mainly in schools as a visual aid.

Uses

Teachers often use flannel boards to enhance storytelling. They may use pictures of the characters and other important parts of the story to illustrate it as they read. Flannel boards are also used for "acting out" songs and poems. They can be used to demonstrate science and math concepts to young children, like the life cycle of a frog or butterfly or addition. They are also commonly used in Sunday school to tell Bible stories. Flannel boards can also be used in students' centers so that the students can manipulate the pieces, providing hands-on learning.

Benefits

There are many benefits to using flannel boards in the classroom. They make learning more visual for young students, and the students remember what they have learned better. Flannel boards are more cost-effective than some other classroom aids. They can be used over and over again for a wide variety of activities, and you can easily switch the pieces from activity to activity. It's also easy to make your own flannel board and story pieces.

How to Make a Flannel Board

Making your own flannel board is easy. You'll need plywood or heavy cardboard and a piece of felt or flannel that is big enough to cover the front of the board and wrap around to the back to be attached. Take your piece of plywood or heavy cardboard and cover it in the flannel or felt. Attach the material to the back using duct tape, a staple gun or a hot glue gun.

How to Make Flannel Board Pieces

You can make flannel board pieces out of paper or felt. The felt pieces can be cut and decorated. They don't need anything on the back, because felt will stick to felt. For paper pieces, use heavy paper like construction paper or poster board. Color and then laminate them. Add a piece of Velcro to the back, and you are finished.
These displaying/instructional materials could be used in teaching so that the learners will understand further about the topic.Using flipcharts, chalkboard or flannel board in presenting lessons could be the most conducive way of learning. The important in using these materials is to give message, informations and knowledge to the learners.
